19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved four initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
