Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant also disputed several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

The source also disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to accounts of reportedly "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the state of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
