Australian rugby league's administration has declared that players who join the “breakaway” R360 competition will be banned for 10 years.

The new league, which plans to launch in late 2026, is aiming to attract rugby union and rugby league players with substantial agreements and a slimmed-down fixture list.

Top National Rugby League players have reportedly been approached by the breakaway group, which will include multiple men's sides and four women's teams operating from key urban centers globally.

Samoa's the rugby star, who plays for the Warriors in the league, has confirmed he has had negotiations involving R360.

Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Haas and Jye Gray are also said to be considering joining R360.

Several leading rugby union teams, among them Australia, last week declared a restriction on R360 recruits playing global fixtures.

“We've listened to our teams and we've acted decisively,” said the league's head the official.

“Unfortunately, there will continually be organizations that seek to pirate our code for monetary profit.

“They don't invest in pathways or the development of athletes. They merely capitalize on the dedication of others, putting players at risk of monetary damage while gaining personally.

“In truth, they represent, imitating the sport.”

R360 is launched by retired international Tindall and backed by independent financiers.

Following the possible union prohibitions were announced last week, it stated: “We want to work collaboratively as integrated into the worldwide fixture list.

“The event is arranged with customized calendars for male and female sides and the organization will allow all athletes for international matches, as specified in their contracts.”

R360 will apply for endorsement for its plans from the international authority, rugby union's administrative organization, at its official gathering in the coming year.
