Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems when he left the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson felt a problem in his hamstring post-delivery that he bowled on Saturday.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time away from the action in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle in Sydney begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The English side has been without key quicks Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 with the bat being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he came back the next day and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, on the final ball of that over, he bowled a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
