Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
